Cracked or damaged panels
One broken panel doesn't usually mean a whole new system. The trick is finding a replacement that properly matches the rest.

A cracked, chipped or scorched panel does not always mean the whole array needs replacing. In many systems one damaged module can be swapped out on its own.
The catch is compatibility. A replacement has to match the existing array electrically and physically, and on older systems the original model may no longer be made. The damaged panel and the installation around it need assessing before anything is ordered.

Matching a new panel to an existing array takes more than finding one that looks similar.
The replacement must work with the rest of the array so it does not drag down the panels around it.
The physical dimensions and mounting need to fit the existing frame and roof arrangement.
If the original module is discontinued, the technician can look at practical alternatives rather than assuming the whole array must go.
Whatever damaged the panel may have affected cabling or nearby modules too, so these are worth checking.
The cost depends on the replacement panel, how easy the damaged module is to reach, and whether anything else was damaged at the same time.
The technician who responds to your enquiry can give you a quote once they know more about the panel and the system.

Tell us what happened, where the damaged panel is and anything you know about the existing system.
We share your enquiry with an independent solar repair technician who can respond.
The technician discusses the damage, the likely replacement options and any limitations.
