Inverter errors and shutdowns
A blank screen, a red light or an error code you've never seen before. Jot down what the inverter says and send it over.

The inverter turns the electricity your panels make into power your home can use, so when it stops, generation stops with it. You might see an error code, a warning light, a blank display, repeated restarts or a monitoring app showing next to nothing.
An inverter warning does not always mean the inverter has failed. It is often reporting a problem somewhere else in the system. Finding the actual cause first is what decides whether the answer is a repair, other electrical work or a replacement inverter.

Writing down the exact message, or taking a photo of the display, gives the technician a useful head start.
The code narrows things down, but it needs reading alongside the rest of the system to find the real fault.
An inverter that keeps stopping and restarting needs diagnosis to find out what is interrupting it.
When the inverter appears dead, the problem can sit with the inverter itself or with the supply and connections around it.
Inverters often wear out before the panels do. On an older unit, the choice between repair and replacement depends on its condition and what parts are still available.
It depends on where the fault turns out to be. A problem inside the inverter, a problem elsewhere in the installation and a full replacement are very different jobs.
The technician who responds to your enquiry can give you a quote once the fault has been looked at.

Tell us the inverter make and model if you know it, plus any error code and when the problem started.
We share your enquiry with an independent solar repair technician who can respond.
The technician discusses the symptoms with you and explains whether the inverter needs a closer look.
Any visit, quotation or repair is agreed directly between you and the technician. You are under no obligation to go ahead.
Note the code, then tell us what the inverter is doing.
